There are three sources of hard (factual) information in the game:
1. Who nominates who for a mission
2. How people vote on nominated missions
3. Mission results
Even discounting the second (i.e. votes may not be as salient round 1 as people all follow their own 'round one' scripts), who nominates who is still a great source of information, and reason enough to try and vote down round one missions.
